ANKARA: 16 April 2015: Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey Mr. Sohail Mahmood has said that educational linkages between Turkey and Pakistan shall be further promoted. He was addressing the participants of “Pakistan Day” celebrations organized by students of Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara on Wednesday evening. A large number of Pakistani, Turkish and international students, and faculty members attended the event.

Ambassador Sohail Mahmood said it is a matter of satisfaction that over 1000 Pakistani students are currently pursuing higher studies in leading Turkish Universities. He hoped that more Pakistani students would join Turkish Universities and the number of Turkish students in Pakistan would also grow. He added that our students have a vital role in promoting the economic and social development of Pakistan and urged the students to complete their studies in Turkey with distinction and then return to the homeland to make their indispensable contribution to the process of national development. He also hoped that Pakistani students will play their crucial role in reinforcing amity and brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey. He also urged the Pakistani stududents, as representatives of Pakistan’s youth, to represent Pakistan in Turkey in an exemplary manner.

 

The Envoy also briefed the audience about the efforts of the Government of Pakistan for socio-economic development. He said that prudent economic management is resulting in turn around of the economy and international financial institutions and private investors are acknowledging the steady improvement in the country’s overall economic outlook. He added that foreign investors including leading Turkish companies are scaling up their involvement in diverse sectors such as energy, agriculture, infrastructure and housing.

Lauding the excellent performance of Pakistani students during the “Pakistan Day” activities, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood assured that Pakistan Embassy would continue to support all positive initiatives for rightful projection of Pakistani culture and way of life in Turkey.
