ANKARA: 25 March 2013:   To commemorate “Pakistan Day,” the Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkey H.E. Mr. Muhammad Haroon Shaukat hosted a reception on Monday evening. Turkish political and military leadership, parliamentarians, notables, media representatives, Pakistan community and diplomats based in Turkey attended the reception. Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Mr. Bulent Arinç, Saadet Parti Genel Secretary Mr. Mustafa Kamalak, Turkish Air, Navel and Gendarmerie Chiefs were prominent among the guests attending.

This year’s reception had an added significance as it also marked the launching of Pakistan’s Cultural Year in Turkey. An exhibition of original paintings by leading Pakistani painters under the theme “In Promotion of the Talented Artists from Pakistan”, display of Pakistani carpets, display of truck art of Pakistan, and Pakistan Food Festival were simultaneously held on 25th March at the reception venue. Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Bulent Arinç visited the art exhibition and appreciated the skills of Pakistani artists whose paintings depicted Islamic calligraphy and landscapes.

In his speech, Mr. Arınç said that Turkey desires a democratic, stable and prosperous Pakistan and reiterated his Government’s support for Pakistan. He said that the Turkish nation will never forget Pakistan’s help during the Turkish War of Independence. Mr. Arınç said "Turkish nation say ’Cive Pakistan’ or ’Zindabad Pakistan’ from their hearts."

Ambassador Haroon Shaukat in his speech said a bright future is awaiting for Pakistan. He said Pakistan and Turkey share a unique relationship and we are “two countries one nation.” He reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen social, cultural and economical ties with Turkey.
