The 64th Independence Day of Pakistan was commemorated with the recitation from the Holy Qura’an followed by unfurling the national flag by the Ambassador of Pakistan Mr. Tariq Azizuddin on the tune of National Anthem in the presence of the Pakistani community and Embassy officials.  The messages of President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out by him to the participants.

The President in his message had stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party has a long history of struggle for the achievement of the objectives for which Pakistan was created.  Four Bhuttos in two generations have laid down their lives for the country and the nation.

The Prime Minister in his message highlighted the importance of unity, faith and discipline as a weapon to fight off the challenges to the nation. The Prime Minister showed his confidence and said that we can rise to the occasion with determination and will power.

The Ambassador while availing the opportunity, briefed the members of the Pakistani community about the scale of devastation and havoc caused by the recent floods in the country and highlighted the importance of unity to face the challenges confronted by our nation.  He sought Pakistani community’s support in this effort to seek prompt assistance to the relief of the flood affectees.

It is pertinent to mention that Ambassador in an interview to the state-run television TRT news channel had called upon the Turkish Nation, philanthropist and civil society to come forward for generous donation to the flood affected people of Pakistan.
